Lawal, who recently parted ways with Atiku and the ADC, said the former vice president lacks the wide national appeal needed to lead a country as diverse as Nigeria.

He made the remarks in a long statement where he also reacted to criticisms he said he has received since his earlier comments.

He questioned Atiku’s past responses to incidents of violence across different parts of the country, suggesting that his silence in some cases raises concerns about fairness and leadership sensitivity.

Lawal also challenged claims about Atiku’s business record and competence, saying these issues should be examined before any presidential bid.

The former SGF urged the ADC to consider replacing Atiku if it hopes to remain competitive in the 2027 race.

He also defended his time in government, saying allegations raised against him during his tenure were part of a setup and that he was cleared of wrongdoing.
