The decision was made during the party’s National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja, where leaders reviewed recent political developments and ratified outcomes of internal processes under the Electoral Act 2026.

Party leaders said the NNPP is open to working with other groups if credible candidates emerge, but stressed that no formal alliance has been reached with any party, including the African Democratic Congress.

The meeting also reflected on recent defections that have weakened the party, including the exit of key figures such as Rabiu Kwankwaso and Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, as the NNPP vowed to rebuild ahead of 2027.
