Wike Clears Air On Rainbiw Coalition Ticket
FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has moved to end speculation over the 2027 Rivers governorship race, saying the Rainbow Coalition has not adopted any candidate.
He spoke in Port Harcourt during a luncheon attended by politicians from different parties within the alliance.
The coalition, which includes the APC, PDP, Labour Party and Action Alliance, has only agreed on one position so far — support for President Bola Tinubu.
Wike said no governorship aspirant has been picked and any decision on the ticket will be taken collectively at a later stage.
He urged party members to avoid premature celebrations and continue building support across their political structures.
According to him, all candidates within the coalition remain in contention, making the race wide open ahead of the next election cycle.
Wike also said the alliance was created to promote unity and development in Rivers State rather than deepen political divisions.
He maintained that established parties with strong grassroots networks remain key players in future elections, dismissing claims that newer parties have already become major forces in the state.
