Jonathan received the backing of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party during a convention in Abuja despite internal opposition and security disruptions.

The event ended with the issuance of a certificate of return on his behalf.

Obi accepted the presidential ticket of the NDC and unveiled plans focused on security, healthcare, electricity and economic recovery.

He said Nigeria faces major challenges but expressed confidence that the country could overcome them through reforms and effective leadership.

Makinde secured the presidential ticket of the APM and presented a programme centred on economic reforms, energy, agriculture and security restructuring.

He said Nigeria needs a fresh direction and promised policies aimed at improving the lives of ordinary citizens.
