Tinubu Imposed Bauchi APC Governorship Candidate – Ex Minister
Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, a former minister under President Bola Tinubu, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress of imposing its governorship candidate in Bauchi State, a move that has deepened tensions within the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The allegation followed the outcome of the party’s selection process in Bauchi, which several aspirants and stakeholders have rejected.
Tuggar said members had expected a fair contest but were instead presented with a predetermined choice.
Another APC member, Honourable Nuru, backed the claim, stating that aspirants were simply informed of the decision without any primary election taking place.
He also alleged that the process was influenced at the highest levels of the party.
The controversy has already led to internal anger and at least one defection, as critics continue to question the fairness of the process.
The APC leadership and presidency have yet to respond to the allegations.
