Abbas’ media team said his presidential bid is separate from that of Atiku, who is contesting under the African Democratic Congress.

Speaking after his emergence, Abbas described his candidacy as the start of a movement centred on national development, youth participation and economic growth.
Party chairman Yabagi Yusuf Sani also said the convention reflected the party’s commitment to internal democracy and offering Nigerians an alternative political choice.
