Former Senate President David Mark has praised the African Democratic Congress presidential primary, saying the exercise showed that democracy can still function properly in Nigeria.

He made the remark after the party concluded its primary election that produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 polls.

He noted that the peaceful atmosphere and acceptance of results by party members helped strengthen confidence in the electoral process.
Mark also stated that transparent primaries remain important for building trust among Nigerians and encouraging wider political participation.
According to him, political parties must continue to allow fair competition and credible processes if democracy is to survive and grow stronger in the country.
His comments came as reactions continued to trail the ADC primary election and the growing opposition coalition ahead of the next general election.
