Pantami Clinches PDP Ticket After APC Exit
Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami has secured the Peoples Democratic Party governorship ticket in Gombe State after formally joining the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
His emergence followed a primary election held on Tuesday in Gombe.
Pantami was chosen through a voice affirmation process after being the only aspirant cleared for the race.
The PDP electoral panel, led by Gregory Yenlong, announced him as the party’s flagbearer following the exercise.
The former minister said his decision to contest the governorship was driven by his desire to serve the people of Gombe State.
He promised to run an administration based on fairness, justice and development across all parts of the state if elected.
His emergence has stirred reactions within the PDP as some aspirants had earlier opposed his entry into the race, citing concerns over party rules and internal democracy.
Despite the debate, party stakeholders backed his candidacy, setting up a tense showdown with the APC candidate ahead of 2027.
