Thugs Disrupt Wike Backed PDP Event
Suspected political thugs on Sunday attacked the Bauchi State secretariat of a Peoples Democratic Party faction loyal to Nyesom Wike during a governorship declaration event.
Several vehicles were vandalised while some party supporters reportedly sustained injuries during the chaos.
The violence broke out while the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led faction was affirming Hon. Usman Adamu Sufi as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
Witnesses said armed hoodlums stormed the area, smashed vehicle windows and destroyed posters and billboards around the venue.
Leaders of the faction condemned the attack and accused unnamed political rivals of trying to disrupt peaceful political activities in the state.
The group also called on Governor Bala Mohammed to guarantee security and fairness for all political parties ahead of the next election season.
Party officials warned that repeated political violence could worsen tension in Bauchi if not checked early.
Meanwhile, the Bauchi State Police Command said it was verifying the incident, though no official statement had been released at the time of filing the report.
