The court had nullified sections of the timetable relating to political party primaries and submission of candidates.

The judgement held that some deadlines set by INEC were not consistent with provisions of the Electoral Act.

INEC said it would examine the details of the ruling before deciding on the next step.

The commission added that any further action would follow legal procedures and existing electoral laws guiding the 2027 elections.

The judgement has already triggered reactions from political parties and stakeholders, with many expecting possible changes to the election schedule in the coming months.
