Gunmen Attack Niger Deputy Governors Aide
An aide to the Deputy Governor of Niger State, Jafar Abdullahi Dabawu, has been killed after unknown attackers invaded his home in the Maitumbi area of Minna.
The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday at his residence opposite a police station.
Dabawu, who also served as President of the Minna Emirate Youth Association, was reportedly attacked around 2am while at home with his wife and teenage daughter.
Reports said the attackers entered the apartment before stabbing him in the chest and injuring his face.
Police officers responded after hearing distress calls in the area and rushed the victim to hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
The Niger State Police Command said investigations had started and efforts were ongoing to identify those behind the attack.
Deputy Governor Yakubu Garba described the killing as painful and tragic while sympathising with the family of the deceased.
He also called on security agencies to ensure those responsible are brought to justice as residents remain anxious over the incident.
