Abia Police Create New Crime Response Unit

The Abia State Police Command has set up a new Violent Crime Response Unit to handle serious crimes across the state.

The unit was launched in Aba under the leadership of Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa.

Police officials said the new team is part of reforms introduced to improve efficiency, discipline and response to violent incidents.

Officers selected for the unit went through screening and special training before being deployed for duty.
A civilian oversight board has also been introduced to monitor the unit’s activities and ensure accountability.
The board includes traditional rulers, lawyers and human rights representatives who will work to maintain public trust and proper conduct.
The unit will operate from its base at Orji Uzor Kalu Bridge in Aba, with additional teams stationed across other parts of Abia State.
Residents were encouraged to support security efforts by sharing useful information with the police.
