Reporters who arrived early observed that party members were being verified while officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission were not yet present.

An APC official at the venue later confirmed that INEC representatives were expected to arrive around 10am, but they were still absent by 11am.

Tension rose when an aspirant, Barakat Odunuga Bakare, arrived with supporters and security aides.

Journalists attempting to cover her arrival were stopped by police officers who insisted that only accredited reporters would be allowed inside.

The situation escalated when APC officials and security personnel forced journalists out of the venue, despite their identification tags showing media organisations and tag numbers.

Reporters were eventually removed from the area as armed security operatives maintained a strong presence around the polling site.
