Lagos Moves To End Electricity Band System
The Lagos State government says plans are underway to remove the classification of electricity consumers into different billing bands across the state.
The announcement was made by Biodun Ogunleye during a government briefing in Lagos.
The commissioner spoke while presenting achievements recorded in the energy sector under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the past year.
He said the move is part of broader reforms aimed at improving electricity access and fairness for residents.
Under the current system, electricity users are grouped into bands based on estimated hours of power supply, with tariffs varying across categories.
The planned reform is expected to address complaints surrounding uneven billing and power distribution.
The state government said discussions and planning are ongoing as authorities work towards improving electricity delivery and creating a more balanced system for consumers across Lagos.
