According to figures released by the party, 2,122 aspirants will contest for state assembly seats, 748 for the House of Representatives, 198 for Senate, 112 for governorship and one for the presidential ticket.

The screening exercise is scheduled to hold nationwide on May 19, 2026.

The faction said committees and appeal panels have been set up to oversee the process in line with its timetable for the 2027 elections.

It also noted that the exercise will begin at 10 am across designated centres nationwide.

The development comes amid ongoing leadership tensions within the PDP between the Makinde-backed group and another faction loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

While the Makinde camp continues its preparations for the polls, the rival bloc has rejected its actions as invalid.
