Plateau Attack Leaves Many Killed And Injured
Gunmen attacked Ngbra Zongo community in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State on Friday morning, killing 13 residents and leaving several others injured.
The attackers reportedly stormed the area at midnight, firing shots and moving from house to house while many victims were asleep.
Residents said several people escaped into nearby bushes during the assault, while others suffered gunshot and machete wounds.
Some injured victims are receiving treatment at hospitals, while search efforts continue for missing residents who fled during the attack.
The latest killings came just days after another deadly assault on mourners in the state.
Community leaders expressed frustration over the repeated violence, saying many residents now feel abandoned as attacks continue across several local government areas in Plateau.
Meanwhile, troops of Operation Enduring Peace uncovered two illegal arms factories in Jos South and arrested five suspects.
Security operatives also recovered fabricated rifles, ammunition parts and other equipment believed to be linked to illegal weapon production in the state.
