Wike Denies Rivers Guber Endorsement
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said he has not backed any candidate for the 2027 governorship race in Rivers State.
He made the clarification during a media session in Abuja, noting that decisions on support would come after consultations within a political coalition in the state.
He explained that the coalition involves members from both the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State.
According to him, the group is still aligning its position and has not settled on any preferred candidate for the upcoming election.
Wike also stated that his political camp is not working with Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who is also linked to the race.
He said past agreements involving the governor and state lawmakers were not fully honoured, which deepened political disagreements in the state.
The former Rivers governor added that ongoing discussions around the coalition are part of wider political planning ahead of 2027.
He maintained that strategy decisions will remain private until the group reaches a final position on the election.
