El-Rufai and his co-defendant, Joel Adoga, are standing trial before Justice Rilwan Aikawa on a 10-count charge linked to alleged possession and conversion of proceeds of corruption.

Both men had earlier pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against them.

During the hearing, defence lawyers appealed to the court to allow El-Rufai receive dental and eye treatment at Mile Dental Clinic and Skipper Eye-Q Hospital in Abuja.

The court granted the request and ordered the ICPC to escort him to the hospitals under strict supervision before returning him to custody.

The anti-graft agency said it would obey the court order while ensuring the former governor remains in lawful custody pending fulfilment of his bail conditions.

The case was later adjourned for ruling on the application seeking changes to his bail terms.
