Sit-at-home Worsened South East Crisis – Soludo
Chukwuma Soludo has blamed the sit-at-home order for deepening problems in Nigeria’s South-East.
The Anambra governor spoke at a lecture at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, where he described the situation as self-inflicted.
He said the directive led to loss of lives and serious damage to businesses.
According to him, many investors and companies left the region due to insecurity and uncertainty caused by the shutdown.
Soludo also raised concern about the role of academics, urging scholars to move beyond theory and contribute to real-world solutions.
He said research should influence policy and help drive development.
The governor added that the South-East stands to gain more within a united Nigeria.
He stressed that progress depends on turning ideas into action and building a strong economic base for the region.
