Court Grants FG’s Plea Over Coup Witness Protection
The Federal High Court in Abuja has approved a request by the federal government to protect the identity of a witness in the ongoing case involving six alleged coup suspects.
The decision was made during proceedings on Wednesday.
The application was filed by the government in the trial of the suspects facing charges linked to an alleged plot against the state.
The court agreed that the witness should not be identified in open proceedings for security reasons.
During the hearing, three bankers also gave testimony as part of the prosecution’s case.
Their evidence forms part of the ongoing investigation being handled by federal authorities.
The case continues as the court hears from more witnesses, while the accused persons remain on trial over the alleged plot.
