Minister of Works David Umahi said the project remains a key priority for the government despite concerns raised over aspects of its design.

He spoke while receiving officials from ECOWAS and the African Development Bank.

The highway is expected to link major economic hubs across the region, boosting cross-border trade and easing transportation challenges.

However, the government flagged issues with parts of the proposed design, calling for adjustments to ensure it meets national and regional needs.

Authorities said discussions with partners will continue to address technical concerns while keeping the project on track.

The road remains one of the major infrastructure plans expected to strengthen economic ties across West Africa.
