Ali Bello, who serves under Governor Usman Ododo, is being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission alongside Dauda Sulaiman.

The charges centre on alleged misappropriation and money laundering. The case is before Justice James Omotosho.

At the hearing, new defence counsel Ahmed Raji said he had just taken over the case and needed time to study the files.

The prosecution opposed the request, arguing that proper procedures for changing counsel were not followed. They urged the court to proceed with the trial.

The judge, however, granted the adjournment and fixed May 5 and 6, 2026, for continuation.

The delay means the trial will resume after both sides prepare further. The case remains under close watch due to its scale and political links.
