The African Democratic Congress in Enugu has fixed April 21, 2026, for a peaceful protest at the office of the Independent National Electoral Commission over a leadership dispute.

The move followed a stakeholders’ meeting held in Enugu, where members reviewed internal tensions and concerns ahead of the 2027 elections.

The party accused the electoral body of interfering in its affairs.
The state youth leader, Gabriel Uchenna-Odi, said the demonstration aims to push the commission to recognise the leadership led by David Mark and update its records.

He insisted the protest would be peaceful and lawful, adding that members want the commission to act fairly and maintain neutrality. The action is also meant to demand equal treatment for all parties.
The dispute grew after conflicting lists emerged from the office of the party’s national organising secretary, creating confusion over who controls state structures.
Party officials also warned the public against dealing with individuals claiming to represent the party without proper authority.
They said some persons were posing as leaders and seeking funds illegally.
Despite rising tensions, the party said it remains committed to peaceful engagement and lawful conduct as it pushes its demands.
