The party described the move as risky and poorly thought out. It argued that the policy sends the wrong signal at a time of ongoing security challenges. The statement was issued on Sunday.

The ADC said the plan raises serious concerns about accountability and justice. It questioned how those involved were screened and whether communities were consulted.

The party warned that reintegration without proper checks could endanger citizens. It also argued that victims of violence may be ignored in the process.

According to the party, terrorism should be treated as a major national threat. It insisted that those responsible for crimes must face legal consequences.

The ADC said any strategy must prioritise safety and transparency. It added that unclear policies could weaken public trust in security efforts.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress defended the government’s record. A party aide dismissed opposition criticism as misleading.

He said the administration has made progress in key sectors, including security and development. The exchange reflects ongoing political tension over national security policies.
