Alli Enters Oyo Governorship Race
The All Progressives Congress lawmaker Sharafadeen Alli has entered the race for the Oyo State governorship seat in the 2027 election in Nigeria.
The declaration took place in Ibadan on Friday with party members from across the state in attendance.
The event drew political figures, including current and former lawmakers and other stakeholders, who gathered at the Yemetu Divisional Police Headquarters venue.
Some invited leaders were absent, while others sent representatives to show support.
Party members used the gathering to call for unity within the APC ahead of the election.
They stressed the need for stronger coordination at the grassroots level to improve the party’s chances against the ruling PDP in the state.
Alli said he joined the race after consultations within the party and promised to focus on education and key sectors if elected.
He also said he would work to improve governance in the state if given the party’s ticket and eventual mandate.
