INEC Shifts Osun Campaign Deadline
The Independent National Electoral Commission has revised the campaign schedule for the Osun State governorship election, fixing August 13, 2026, as the new deadline.
The update follows an earlier adjustment that moved the election date to August 15.
The announcement was made by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, who said all political parties and candidates must end campaigns by midnight on the new date.
The change aligns with electoral laws requiring campaigns to stop 24 hours before voting begins.
INEC urged stakeholders to comply strictly with the revised timeline to ensure a smooth process.
The commission said adherence to the schedule is key to maintaining order ahead of the poll.
The electoral body also reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a credible and inclusive election.
The adjustment comes as preparations continue for the high-stakes governorship race in the state.
