The group, which represents private broadcast stations nationwide, said the comment has raised concerns within the media space.

The demand follows a statement issued by the association’s leadership, where it warned that broadcasters may take action if the matter is not addressed.

IBAN said the situation could affect future interactions between media organisations and the minister.

The group stated that the comment, made during a live television interview, carries wider implications for press freedom and professional respect.

It noted that such remarks could strain the relationship between public officials and the media.

IBAN also warned it may boycott all media briefings organised by the minister if a public apology is not made.

The association said its position is aimed at protecting journalists and maintaining standards within the industry.
