Police Warns Against Election Violence In Sokoto
The Nigeria Police Force has stepped up a public campaign against electoral violence and reckless driving in Sokoto as activities for the 2026 National Police Day reached Day Three.
The initiative aims to promote safer roads and peaceful civic behaviour ahead of key national events.
The outreach took place at the Sokoto Central Motor Park, where the Commissioner of Police, Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, led engagement with transport unions, youth groups, and other stakeholders.
The session focused on encouraging responsible conduct and building stronger ties between residents and law enforcement.
Also present was Gyogon A Grimah, who praised residents for working with security agencies and urged them to continue rejecting violence, especially during elections.
Officers also stressed that public cooperation remains key to maintaining order.
Officials including Sidi G Shinkafi and Abdulaziz Isha Baura warned about the dangers of reckless driving and election-related unrest.
The police said the campaign will continue to support safer communities before, during, and after elections.
