Tinubu To Face Tough Election – Momodu
In Nigeria, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Dele Momodu, has said President Bola Tinubu could lose the 2027 presidential election if former Vice President Atiku Abubakar runs on a joint ticket with a southern politician such as Peter Obi or Rotimi Amaechi.
Momodu made the claim during a television interview, arguing that a north–south alliance led by Atiku could weaken the ruling All Progressives Congress in the next general election.
He said such a partnership could shake the political foundation supporting the current administration.
The media entrepreneur also defended Atiku’s continued presence in presidential politics despite several previous attempts.
He said the former vice president’s political prospects appear to be improving as more opposition figures rally around him ahead of the next election cycle.
Momodu further warned that the steady movement of politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC could weaken democratic competition, adding that several influential figures have already aligned under the African Democratic Congress as part of a growing opposition coalition ahead of 2027.
