He said he was not informed the discussion would revisit his past statements about the president and maintained that his focus was prepared for questions on security, the economy, and corruption.

Bwala criticised the programme’s approach, claiming that some of the quotes and references used against him were inaccurate or misleading.

He insisted he was ready to defend the Tinubu administration at any time and place, emphasising that his role requires explaining government policies to the public.

The interview drew attention after host Mehdi Hasan confronted Bwala with statements he allegedly made while supporting former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 election.

Bwala repeatedly denied making claims about Tinubu creating a militia or receiving suspicious cash, stressing that the comments originated from his opposition role at the time.

He described political realignments as common and dismissed much of the criticism as coming from opposition members.

Bwala also thanked supporters and expressed respect for the programme’s host, while indicating eagerness for a follow-up interview focused entirely on the Tinubu administration’s policies and achievements.
