Ebonyi Government Orders Shrine Demolition
The Ebonyi State Government has ordered the destruction of all shrines and deities in Amasiri clan following a wave of killings reported in the community.
The directive was issued as authorities moved to restore order and address rising tension in the area.
The decision came after several violent incidents left residents worried about their safety. State officials said the action forms part of broader efforts to end the bloodshed and bring calm back to the affected communities.
Authorities believe some traditional structures in the area may be linked to the violence or used to fuel fear among residents.
The government therefore directed security operatives and local authorities to remove such sites across the clan.
Officials said the move is aimed at preventing further attacks while investigations continue into those responsible for the killings.
Residents have also been urged to cooperate with security agencies to help track down those behind the violence.
