Key Systems Lost In Airport Blaze – Kayemo
The fire outbreak at the Lagos airport has destroyed key weather monitoring equipment, the Federal Government has confirmed.
Aviation authorities disclosed this while assessing the damage caused by the incident.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, said the affected facilities were crucial for tracking weather conditions and supporting safe flight operations.
He noted that the loss could affect some airport services.
Officials explained that the damaged equipment played a role in providing pilots with real-time weather updates needed for take-off and landing.
Emergency teams have since secured the area and begun investigations.
Authorities say steps are being taken to restore the affected systems and prevent disruptions, as efforts continue to determine the cause of the fire.
