The case centres on an alleged N10.27 billion fraud filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

During proceedings before Justice James Omotosho, Sulaiman admitted under cross-examination that the seven statements he gave investigators were made voluntarily.

The admission came during a trial-within-trial set up to determine whether the statements were obtained under pressure, as earlier claimed by the defence.

Sulaiman later told the court he was not forced to remember details contained in the statements, even though he said he could not recall some events.

Prosecutors are pursuing a 16-count amended charge accusing the defendants of misappropriation and money laundering amounting to N10,270,556,800.

Justice Omotosho admitted disputed documents tendered by the defence and is expected to fix a date for final arguments on whether the statements will be accepted as evidence.
