Lawmakers elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun have thrown their weight behind Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship poll.

The endorsement followed a stakeholders’ meeting held in Osogbo, where party figures at both national and state levels declared support for his second term bid under the Accord Party.

Adeleke, who left the PDP for the Accord Party in December 2025 to seek re-election, received backing based on what the lawmakers described as his record in infrastructure, workers’ welfare, healthcare and education.

Despite the governor’s defection, the caucus maintained that the PDP structure in Osun remains intact from the wards to the National Assembly level.
They passed a vote of confidence in the state party chairman, Sunday Bisi, and other executives, warning that no parallel leadership should be recognised.
The lawmakers also urged President Bola Tinubu to step into the lingering local government crisis, saying withheld allocations are affecting workers and traditional institutions.
Their statement came as five PDP members of the National Assembly in the state formally joined the APC.
