Officials say the radar upgrade will improve real time monitoring of aircraft across the country, closing coverage gaps and enhancing coordination between aviation and security agencies.

The counter drone system is designed to detect and neutralise unauthorised unmanned aerial vehicles.

Authorities described the initiative as part of a broader effort to safeguard critical infrastructure, airports and sensitive facilities.

The project is expected to involve new technology installations and integration with existing defence networks.

The announcement comes amid rising global concerns over the misuse of drones and the need for tighter airspace control.

Government sources say implementation will begin in phases nationwide.
