Sit-at-home Suspension Caused Economic Boost – Soludo
Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has said the suspension of the weekly sit at home order in the South East is already showing signs of economic recovery.
Speaking on the development, Soludo revealed that more than 45,000 shops now open for business on Mondays at the Onitsha Main Market alone.
He described the turnaround as a major boost for traders and the wider state economy.
The governor said the return of commercial activity on Mondays is helping to restore confidence among business owners who had previously lost income due to the shutdowns.
He noted that the move is part of broader efforts to stabilise the region and protect livelihoods.
Onitsha Main Market is one of the largest markets in West Africa, making the reopening significant for trade across the South East and beyond.
