The All Progressives Congress has explained why Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has not yet received an official welcome into the party, despite his recent defection.

The clarification came from APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, during an appearance on TVC on Sunday.

Yilwatda said the delay is deliberate and rooted in political timing and regional considerations, especially in the North.

According to him, the party chose to focus first on northern states ahead of Ramadan because of religious sensitivities.

He stressed that the decision has nothing to do with Fubara’s influence or authority within the party.

Responding to claims of internal discontent, the APC chairman said there has been no formal complaint against Fubara.

He challenged the media to produce evidence, saying, “When somebody has not complained, and we’ve not seen a physical petition, the media should not create a petition.” He also noted

that support groups backing President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda operate outside the party’s official structure, amid ongoing political tensions in Rivers following Fubara’s fallout with his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
