The protest took place within the secretariat premises, where workers reportedly abandoned their duties to voice frustration over welfare issues and unmet demands. The gathering quickly grew in size, creating tension around the minister’s scheduled activities.

As the situation intensified, protesters moved towards Wike’s convoy, chanting and attempting to block his movement. Security operatives struggled to control the crowd as tempers flared, forcing an urgent response to prevent the protest from escalating further.

To avoid direct confrontation, the minister was discreetly moved out of the premises through a back gate. His convoy later exited the area under heavy security, while workers continued to air their grievances within the complex.

The protest disrupted normal operations at the secretariat and added to concerns over labour unrest in public offices. Security presence was increased shortly after, and activities gradually returned to normal, though the workers’ complaints remain unresolved.
