Seyi Makinde’s recent attacks on President Bola Tinubu have been linked to a failed attempt at reconciliation, following a visit to the Presidential Villa that reportedly ended without warmth or political assurance.

The reaction comes after Makinde made comments about the President during a public event linked to a birthday celebration, which sparked attention across political circles.

According to former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, the remarks did not come as a surprise but were the result of disappointment from a meeting with Tinubu that did not go as Makinde expected.

Fayose said the Oyo State governor had gone to the Villa in an effort to repair political ties, but left without any sign of acceptance or support.

He claimed this experience convinced Makinde that there would be no reconciliation and that Tinubu was firmly committed to backing APC candidates in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 elections.

He argued that Makinde’s new posture as a vocal critic of the Federal Government was not driven by principle but by political frustration, describing it as a reaction to rejection rather than conviction.

Fayose added that Makinde’s public stance would likely shift him away from the PDP and push him towards fielding candidates under another platform.

Fayose concluded that the development should serve as a wake-up call for the APC in Oyo State, urging party members to prepare for a tough political contest in 2027, as new alignments and strategies begin to take shape across the state.
