Both institutions say the circular is not genuine.
The clarification followed growing attention around the document, which appeared to present official repayment guidelines to students and the public.

It quickly spread across social media and messaging platforms, raising concern among beneficiaries of the loan scheme.
Officials from both UNIBEN and NELFUND stated that neither institution issued the circular or authorised its release.

They said the content did not reflect any approved policy or decision linked to the student loan programme.

They warned that the document could mislead students and parents, stressing that any authentic information on loan repayment would be communicated only through official channels. The institutions urged the public to ignore the circular entirely.

Both bodies reassured students that clear and accurate details on repayment terms would be made public at the appropriate time, advising beneficiaries to rely solely on verified announcements to avoid confusion.
