A pastor of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, was abducted by armed bandits in Kogi State, raising fresh fears over worsening insecurity in the region.
The incident happened on Saturday while the cleric was on his way to his farm, carrying out his normal daily activities before he was intercepted by the attackers.
The abduction occurred along the Okeoffin–Okoro Gbedde road in Okoro Gbedde, Ijumu Local Government Area, a route locals say has become increasingly unsafe.
The pastor was travelling on a motorcycle with a commercial rider when armed men suddenly appeared. He reportedly jumped off the bike on sighting them, but the rider escaped while the pastor was taken away to an unknown location.
The attack has deepened fear among residents, especially as it follows earlier mass kidnappings in nearby parts of Kogi where worshippers were seized from churches and heavy ransom demands were made.
Security concerns continue to grow as families, churches, and communities await action, with no contact yet made by the abductors and no ransom request issued as of the time of this report.
