The target was drawn up by Alpha Beta as part of its 2026 revenue strategy for Lagos, at a time when many Nigerians are facing rising prices, job losses, business shutdowns, and growing pressure from new tax policies.
The plan is aimed at Lagos State, where tax collections stood at about ₦1.25 trillion at the end of 2024 and rose to roughly ₦1.41 trillion by October 2025. The proposed 2026 figure is more than double recent collections.

The move comes as the Tinubu administration prepares wide-ranging tax reforms for 2026, sparking worry among small businesses, tax experts, and civil groups about tougher enforcement and wider tax monitoring.
Internal records show that Alpha Beta itself faced setbacks in 2025, including power failures, network issues, weak monitoring systems, and difficulty tracking struggling or closed companies through official tax channels.
Despite these challenges, the firm reported progress in onboarding government agencies, tracking corporate taxpayers, and cleaning tax data, while pushing ahead with plans for a sharper revenue drive in Lagos next year.
