Workers across Nigeria took to the streets on Wednesday as the Nigeria Labour Congress led peaceful protests in Abuja and many states to protest rising insecurity and growing hardship faced by workers and their families.

The demonstrations happened in the Federal Capital Territory and states including Kano, Bauchi, Borno, Ebonyi, Enugu, Benue, Imo, Lagos, Kwara, Abia and Adamawa, showing a united front by organised labour across the country.

The protests were organised by the NLC following months of unanswered letters to top government officials over insecurity, high living costs, unpaid wages and stalled labour disputes in key sectors such as education and healthcare.
In Abuja, protesters marched from Labour House to the Ministry of Finance area, while similar rallies were held at government offices and major roads in different states, with workers carrying placards and chanting solidarity songs.

Labour leaders said insecurity has affected farming, schooling, travel and businesses, leaving many Nigerians living in fear, while inflation and weak purchasing power have worsened daily survival for workers.
The NLC said the protests were meant to draw urgent attention to the crisis and push the Federal Government to act faster, noting that President Bola Tinubu has agreed to fresh talks aimed at resolving security concerns and labour disputes nationwide.
