Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has told leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party that the party’s challenges can still be fixed and are not beyond control.
He spoke after meeting with party leaders and later shared his views publicly, stressing that the PDP still plays an important role in Nigeria’s democratic system.
Obasanjo said the party must reorganise itself and return as a firm and disciplined opposition that puts the country first above internal interests.
He made the remarks at a time when the PDP is facing internal divisions, leadership disputes, and growing pressure from rival parties ahead of future elections.
According to him, rebuilding trust, unity, and clear direction within the party is key to restoring its strength and relevance nationwide.
The former president encouraged party leaders to stay committed to the task, urging them to continue working together to reposition the PDP for a stronger political future.
