CAN Confirms 227 Abducted Students In Niger School Attack

The Christian Association of Nigeria in Niger State has confirmed that 227 students and teachers were taken by terrorists during the Friday morning attack on St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools in Papiri.

According to CAN Chairman and Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, the abducted group includes 215 students and 12 teachers. He returned from the community late Friday after meeting parents and school staff, telling them that efforts were underway with government officials and security agencies to rescue the victims.

He explained that some students managed to escape during the attack, and parents have been arriving to retrieve their children as the school has now been closed.
