The family of Nnamdi Kanu has rejected reports that the detained IPOB leader has been moved from the DSS facility in Abuja to a correctional centre in Sokoto, describing the development as a threat to his life.

In a statement, Prince Emmanuel Kanu said the legal team was informed of the transfer when they arrived for a scheduled visit at the DSS headquarters. He said the family is deeply worried about Kanu’s safety and believes the relocation puts him at risk.

Prince Emmanuel alleged that the move was a covert plot to harm Kanu by cutting him off from his personal physicians. He said Kanu depends on specialised medication managed by a private doctor, warning that returning him to routine prison treatment could endanger his health.

He insisted that the family “totally rejects” the transfer, claiming it amounts to an attempt to “kill him through medical negligence.” He added that Kanu has committed no offence that justifies what he described as continued torture.
The family has called on the international community to hold President Bola Tinubu and the federal government responsible should anything happen to him.
