Benjamin Kalu Pushes For Political Path To Free Kanu

Kalu explained that discussions seeking a non-judicial route had been delayed while the trial was ongoing. With the judgment now delivered, he said the window has reopened for appeals to the presidency, noting that many Igbo leaders are already pressing for intervention.

He expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu would give attention to the calls coming from leaders across the South-East and beyond. According to him, the region must stay calm as the next phase of engagement begins.

Kalu added that the goal is to find a path that restores peace and addresses long-standing concerns without deepening tensions. He urged Nigerians, particularly those in the South-East, to stay patient as talks continue.

He maintained that those working on the matter believe a solution is achievable and are committed to pursuing it until an outcome is reached.
