EFCC Declares Ex-Bayelsa Governor Wanted Over $14.8m Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared former Bayelsa State governor and ex-Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, wanted.

In a statement posted on its official X handle on Thursday, the anti-graft agency said Sylva is wanted for alleged conspiracy and dishonest conversion of $14,859,257.

The EFCC urged anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact its offices nationwide or report through official communication channels.

Sylva, who governed Bayelsa State between 2007 and 2012, also served as a minister under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. The case is said to be linked to financial transactions that occurred during his tenure as governor.
