The newly reconstituted Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party has called for the postponement of the party’s national convention until the Court of Appeal delivers its judgment on the ongoing case concerning party leadership and internal processes.

In a communiqué issued after its inaugural meeting in Abuja on Friday, the BoT reaffirmed its confidence in the judiciary and urged all party organs to comply fully with the Federal High Court judgment of October 31, 2025, which directed a return to constitutional order within the PDP.

The Board stressed that while it supports a transparent and credible convention, holding it before the conclusion of the appeal could amount to contempt of court. It also stated that the Federal High Court judgment remains superior to the interim order of the Oyo State High Court.

During the meeting, the BoT approved the appointment of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa as Chairman and Hon. Isah Dansidi as Secretary, replacing Senator Adolphus Wabara and Senator Ahmed Makarfi, who had publicly taken sides in the internal dispute.
The Board pledged to act as the party’s moral compass and mediator, promoting inclusiveness, peace, and discipline across all levels. It urged members to remain united, respect judicial processes, and work collectively toward restoring stability in the party.
The communiqué concluded with a call for reconciliation among members and a renewed commitment to justice, equity, and internal democracy within the PDP.
