Former Kano State governor and national leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has dismissed claims that his party has submitted a letter of intent to join another political party.

Kwankwaso described the online report as fabricated and urged Nigerians, especially NNPP supporters, to disregard it.

“We have been alerted to some online statements suggesting that we have submitted a letter of intent to join a political party in the country. We would like to clarify that we have not made any such submission to any party,” he said, adding that any official update would only come through the party’s established channels.

The NNPP leader had recently said he was open to working with other political parties, including the APC, but only on clearly defined terms. He stressed that the fate of NNPP leaders and elected officials, including Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, senators, and House of Representatives members, must be secured before any alliance.

Kwankwaso said past experiences with the APC and PDP left him and his supporters sidelined despite their contributions, insisting that any future political partnership must be based on honesty and transparency.

“We’re not in a hurry to leave the NNPP. But if there are those who want to work with us sincerely, without treating us the way we were treated before, we are ready,” he said.
